10/30, Sprinkled Blood

R.M. McCheyne's DAILY BREAD portions:

MORNING: 2 Kings 11-12 (family); Hosea 3-4 (secret)
EVENING: 2 Timothy 2 (family); Psalm 119:121-144 (secret)

"So shall He sprinkle many nations..." (Isaiah 52:15).

From the blood used when Moses consecrated Aaron for the office of high priest (Exodus 29:21), to the blood for the personal sins committed (Leviticus 4, 5, 6), to the sanctifying blood of the Day of Atonement (Leviticus 16); the blood from the sacrifices was sprinkled and foreshadowed the cleansing power of the blood of Jesus Christ shed upon Calvary’ Tree. “...and without shedding of blood is no remission” (Hebrews 9:22). This atoning blood, this precious blood, would not only be sprinkled upon Israel, but also upon Goyim Raviym, that is, “many nations.” Mr. Spurgeon reminds us,

“That blood has the only power to save, and aught else that you rely upon shall be a refuge of lies. This is the rock, and this is the work that is perfect; but all other things are day dreams; they must be swept away in the day when God shall come to try our work of what sort it is. THE BLOOD stands out in solitary majesty, the only rock of our salvation.

“This blood is not simply the only thing that can save, but it must save alone. Put anything with the blood of Christ, and you are lost; trust to anything else with this, and you perish.”

The precious blood from the precious Sacrifice is sprinkled before the heavenly Mercy Seat, the throne of God. The very best of all we do, is stained with the filth of corrupt flesh. Look to Jesus and thank Him for His blood. His divine blood, has made the blood in the veins of many nations, singular, full of light, and full of fellowship for those who are in Him: “But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin” (1 John 1:7).

What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
O precious is the flow
That cleanses white as snow;
No other fount I know,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

For my pardon this I see--
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
For my cleansing this my plea--
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
O precious is the flow
That cleanses white as snow;
No other fount I know,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Nothing can for sin atone--
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
Naught of good that I have done--
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
O precious is the flow
That cleanses white as snow;
No other fount I know,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

This is all my hope and peace--
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
This is all my righteousness--
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
O precious is the flow
That cleanses white as snow;
No other fount I know,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
